I had the amazing opportunity to work at STERIS. STERIS is one of the leading medical device companies in the US. Spanning over 100 countries, the company is dedicated to Prevention and Protection in Healthcare, and these projects allowed me to merge my passion for design and marketing while gaining hands-on, real-world experience.
Throughout my time at STERIS, I improved my skills in graphic design, content creation, and strategic marketing. I developed brochures, sell sheets, presentations, and analytical reports, ensuring all materials aligned with the company's brand guidelines. Additionally, I expanded my skill sets in creative writing and research, learning how to merge creativity with MarCom within a corporate setting. These experiences strengthened my ability to integrate my creative, unique approach into professional projects while maintaining consistency with brand identity and messaging.
Beyond technical skills, this exposure to a professional environment allowed me to work alongside and learn from experienced directors and product managers. The challenges I faced helped me grow as a designer and marketing professional, reinforcing my ability to meet objectives while addressing the marketing initiatives of the company.
Below is a selection of my work:
New Product Update Templates
1. Initial Design Layout
The initial design layout for the New Product update started as a general layout containing all required metrics for the Surgical Solutions Marketing team. While the idea of this layout was highly considered, some additional discrepancies led to the re-ordering of the layout. Below is an image showing what the initial design looked like with the first proposal.
2. Second Design (Round 2)
After speaking with the team, we developed a clear idea of how the products and metrics would be presented in the New Product Update. Key discussions included left-to-right reading and categorizing metrics for better readability. The revised design shown below is a slightly manipulated version of the original design, rather this design builds on the original layout, incorporating additional details for each product, including graphics as well as key metrics for the product portfolio.
3. Final Design
The final design contains all products from each product manager's portfolio. Different designs and layouts were adjusted based on each product manager's needs. With a total of 8 products, the templates were converted into a long (continuous scrolling) document. Being mindful that certain products required different layout templates (emphasizing the "leading indicators" tab, while also keeping a certain design for other products (incorporating the "performance" column). The final design can be seen below.
Procedural Solutions Sell Sheet
This project focuses on the Procedural Solutions Products, including the OR Locate, the MedLED Spectra Headlamp, the Dabir Surface System (Discontinued), and the Smoke Evacuation System. The team needed a one-page, double-sided sell sheet to promote ALL FOUR products within one document. The biggest challenge of this project was finding a way to connect all products into one sheet that had a common ground. I concluded the connection to be Prevention and Protection as all STERIS's surgical products provide Prevention and Protection in the Operating Room (OR).
Initially, I took reference from other forms of literature from the company, including their brochures, original SELL Sheets, and marketing emails, to create a revised SELL Sheet that will incorporate a new design while still containing some original key design elements.
There is a two-part series to this project. Initially, the first design almost made it to the final cut, which was then later changed. After speaking with the product manager, it was more ideal to eliminate sections to create a cleaner and more open design. Additionally, the Dabir Surface System was no longer a part of the STERIS product portfolio and needed to be removed from the second page of the SELL Sheet. You can find the process below.
1. Initial OR Locate Brochure
A main reference point for the SELL Sheet. This brochure was created to educate potential and current customers of STERIS about the OR Locate, its benefits, purpose, and solutions.
2. Process of the Procedural Solutions SELL Sheet
This design is a few proposals in after going over the requirements and wishes with the product manager and director. Several things were incorporated into this design, including the then four products (OR Locate, Spectra Headlight, Dabir, and the Smoke Evacuation System). Additionally, this design is very text heavy as we believed that putting enough information onto the SELL Sheet would provide a substantial amount of information for the reader. Several original design elements were still incorporated while still revising its original form. The gradient blue arch along the top and bottom of the page (known as the STERIS swoop) was incorporated in this design, while adjusting the color and direction of the curve. Other elements were noted as well.
3. Final Design
The final design is presented below. After removing filler content, adjusting font colors and sizes, refining shape colors, updating literature, and eliminating the Dabir Surface System section, the finalized SELL Sheet—approved by me, the Product Manager of Procedural Solutions, and the Senior Director of Marketing Clinical Portfolio—is shown below.

Marketing Emails Templates
These emails were used by the Sales Team as well as the Procedural Solutions Teams to advertise and reach an audience of customers to promote various surgical products at STERIS. I completed a total of 15-20 email templates for various product managers and directors within the surgical solutions department. Below are a few email template designs.
HexaVue Connect Proposal
HexaVue Connect is an operating room software-based product that provides enhanced, advanced patient care and OR efficiency. A system designed to communicate and collaborate, schedule surgeries and room cleaning, and educational means for surgeries, it is the best technology to make an active OR a smooth process.
My task was to create a new proposal design for the HexaVue Connect product. This proposal would be submitted to customers, hospitals, and healthcare professionals in hopes of initiating a sale of the product. This was a multi-step project working with the product manager for HexaVue Connect to create a clean and sleek design layout for the future proposal.
1. Initial Layout Intro - The Letter
This was the initial reference presented to me. Speaking with the product manager, she wanted to incorporate a formatting similar to a professional letter, while changing and incorporating key things related to STERIS.
2. The Proposal Initial
After establishing a header (shown below), I received additional information about HexaVue Connect to create a document that briefly explains each aspect of the package. This step focused on outlining key details, with minimal design elements to maintain a clean layout. However, other marketing aspects, such as content writing and research, were also considered.
2. Design Elements Added
After the initial formatting and copy were written, I integrated design elements. Given a small background of proposals, I planned how to present the written information. I was instructed to incorporate creative elements while maintaining alignment with the STERIS brand, so I designed a proposal with added flair and engaging graphics. My goal was to create a proposal that was visually modest while keeping the design clean and minimal. STERIS's traditional colors guided the design, and I incorporated images and concise bullet points for clarity and impact.
3. Final Design Layout
After discussing the design with the Product Manager, certain aspects were well received, but the proposal's structure needed a cleaner, more aligned, and simplified layout. The callouts were replaced with a single, right-aligned image for a more streamlined look. Additionally, the header was adjusted to better follow the initial letter, making some text unnecessary. To enhance the design while maintaining subtle branding, hexagons were incorporated as minor details to complement the "Hexa" theme in HexaVue Connect.
TrenGuard Brochure
For the TrenGuard Brochure, I redesigned the layout and integrated additional information requested by the Product Managers of Surgical Tables and Accessories. The original brochure lacked clarity in conveying key highlights and main points to its audience. My revisions focused on enhancing the messaging to ensure a more effective and engaging presentation. The process is outlined below.

Project Roadmap and Scheduling Software Project
I was expected to shadow my assigned supervisor, the Director of Global Marketing & Communications, although due to some impending health complications, she went on short-term disability for the majority of my time there. I had the opportunity to shadow other project managers within the department, and me reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing and the Senior Director of Marketing. This project was conjured up between me and the Senior Director of Marketing, to present a proposal of various programs to her upon organizing tasks, finances, and projects upon her arrival back to STERIS (after my departure). This project was a great way for me to learn what it takes to organize, plan, and implement projects as a project director, while also providing long-lasting research and work that could potentially be used by the department long after my departure. Below is the process of this project.
1. Excel File
I started by researching and gathering all the programs to use for scheduling and project management in an Excel file. Each program was categorized by the type of software, the cost, and pros and cons of each program. Links for tutorials and further information were provided for programs that were highly recommended.
2. Document Conversion
This was the final document presented to my supervisor via email during her absence so that she could review it when she returned. Each program was categorized by its tier levels and a pros and cons list.
All projects were completed using Adobe and Microsoft products.
Thank you!
